MacLean Park Towers
Vancouver, BC
Tiled wall areas on this 2-tower, 40-year-old high-rise development were overclad to address safety concerns posed by unstable adhered tiles on both buildings. Mineral wool insulation was also added to improve thermal performance. The new assembly features thermally efficient exterior sub-framing, moisture barrier, waterproofing, flashing, and European fiber cement panels. New curtain walls were installed at ground-floor building entrances and lounge rooms.
JRS performed the initial assessment and was then retained to design the overcladding system, assisting Ameresco with refining scope and risk management strategies throughout the design development process. As part of our services we coordinated code review, provided construction documents, assisted with contract administration, and undertook regular field reviews and final project close-out. Once the project was complete, we produced a Maintenance and Renewals Plan to assist BC Housing and Ameresco with planning future maintenance and replacement of components.
