The Marion West
This mixed‑use affordable housing apartment building, located in the University District neighborhood, has 50 residential units and a food bank on the first floor. The building is slab on grade with no below‑grade structure. Level 1 is constructed of concrete and 3 levels of wood‑framed apartments are located above. Level 2 has several green roofs and a private balcony. The roof includes an extensive P‑Patch where vegetables are grown for the food bank.
JRS provided the following building envelope consulting services throughout the project’s design and construction: design development; construction documents production; bidding evaluation; review of shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs; field reviews; and continuous air barrier testing.
In November 2017, The Marion West was awarded the NAIOP Washington State Judge’s Innovation Award. The NAIOP Commercial Real Estate Development Association includes developers, contractors, architects, engineers, designers, brokers, and property managers.
