JRS principal Joel SchwartzJoel Schwartz, P.Eng., FEC, BEP 

Joel is a principal and senior building science specialist at JRS Engineering, with nearly 2 decades of building envelope consulting experience throughout Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest. His reputation as a leading building science expert and passion for sharing knowledge have led to numerous featured presentations at seminars and conferences for a variety of associations, including APEGBC and the Seattle Building Envelope Council.  Joel is past president of the BC Building Envelope Council (BCBEC), serves on APEGBC’s Consulting Practice and Building Envelope Committees, and chairs the Guidelines for Professional Practice Sub-Committee.  Registered in BC and Alberta, he was recently inducted as a Fellow of the Engineers of Canada for his many contributions to the engineering profession.

JRS principal Scott CroasdaleScott Croasdale, M.Eng, P.Eng, PE (WA, OR, ID)

Scott is a principal at JRS, with a solid background in the construction industry and over 15 years of consulting experience for new construction and rehabilitation projects of all types.  His expertise includes building envelope design, cost estimating, project planning and contract administration. As an engineer, Scott is regularly involved in building enclosure investigations, repairs and replacements. He directs design activities, specifications development, drawing review, structural detailing, contract administration, field reviews, testing and project management for new and rehabilitation projects.  Scott received his Bachelor of Applied Science degree and his Master of Engineering from the University of British Columbia.  He is a licensed engineer in British Columbia, Washington, Idaho and Oregon.

JRS Principal Jeff Speert, AIA, MAIBC, LEED APJeff Speert, AIA, MAIBC, LEED® AP

Principal at JRS’ Seattle office and director of the firm’s whole building air barrier testing service, Jeff Speert is a licensed architect in Washington State and British Columbia.  He has a Master’s Degree from the University of Washington and 15 years of industry experience, including roles as carpenter, designer, contractor, architect and building envelope consultant. Jeff's passion for sustainability has led him to completing numerous projects that focused on energy efficiency and green building systems.  Jeff has been a LEED® Accredited Professional for over 6 years and is a nationally certified Home Energy Rating System (HERS) Rater.
