We offer interesting and informative educational presentations to professional services firms, industry groups and stratas/HOAs on a variety of building science topics. Some of our most popular presentations include:
Air Barriers: Design, Construct, Test
Properly designed and detailed air barriers are critical components of energy-efficient enclosures. This one hour presentation will focus on the benefits, science, design, construction, and testing of continuous air barriers. We will also discuss recently implemented Energy Code requirements for air barriers. (AIACES Credits: 1)
Exterior-Insulated Wall Assemblies
Innovative solutions are required to ensure that these wall assemblies can be practically constructed and will actually meet the desired thermal performance and aesthetic criteria. This presentation provides a general overview of North American energy usage, applicable energy codes and standards, and anticipated energy code changes over time. Heat transfer, calculation of effective R-values, parallel heat flow paths, and design and construction considerations are also discussed, along with case studies.
Roofing: RCABC Requirements
Many specifications include language such as, “must meet RCABC standards” or “provide 5-year RCABC warranty”. Unfortunately there is often confusion between expectations and reality. In this hour-and-a-half presentation, we focus on the relationship between RCABC Inspector and Designer, as well as the Inspector’s role. We will also discuss typical RCABC standards that cause confusion, as well as new standards that are just emerging.
